Frequently Asked Questions

If you cannot find an answer to your question, please submit it via our contact form.

No. We don't accept donations nor provide services directly. Instead, members contribute to a selected 501(c)(3) charity at each meeting and receive receipts from that charity. Power of 100 Eagan Women operates as a giving circle, facilitating charitable contributions through the collective generosity of our members.

Although there are many "Power of 100" and "Women Who Care" groups, the Power of 100 Eagan Women operates completely independently. We have gratefully received input and knowledge sharing from several other Power of 100 giving circles in setting up our group, including Power of 100 Hastings Women, Power of 100 Rosemount Women, and Power of 100 Women Greater Stillwater.

Simply fill in the contact form and select the member option. One of our leaders will send you information on the membership requirements via email. The main requirement is the commitment to donate $100 per meeting (this is a $200 per year commitment.) We also ask that you attend our meetings. Their scheduled dates will be announced via the website and email list several months in advance.

It is not required that you reside in Eagan. As per our group's mission, membership is only open to women. Any woman who wants to support nonprofit groups who help others in our community is welcome to join.

Our mission is to empower and connect women through collective giving. We’re a private, membership-based giving circle that focuses on women’s community involvement. Because of this mission, and since we don’t receive any public funding, membership is limited to women.

That said, everyone is welcome to attend our public events, sponsor meetings, represent charities or support our mission in other ways. We value community partnerships and welcome everyone who believes in the power of giving back.

We welcome you to join our group, as each Power of 100 group serves its community in unique ways. To support members who participate in more than one area Power of 100 giving circles, we strive to schedule our meetings on different days and usually weeks than other groups.

Power of 100 is a wonderful avenue for philanthropy and we encourage you to join as many giving circles as you wish—each one amplifies the collective impact we can make together.

We plan to have two meetings a year, one in the spring and one in the fall. Our meetings are generally on Thursday evenings from 7-8 with optional social time from 6-7. We do attempt to avoid holidays, community events and other scheduled Power of 100 meetings in the area.

The official meeting is just 1 hour. There will be an option to socialize for one hour prior to the meetings. We encourage all members to come early to meet and socialize with each other.

Absolutely! Only members are allowed to vote and are required to make a donation to the chosen charity. Our hope is that visitors might be inspired to become a member of our group or one of our "sister" Power of 100 giving circles.

We know that you are busy and often unplanned things come up. We ask that you send along your check or cash with a proxy. If this is not possible, wew ask that you send your check or cash with another attending member as a proxy for you. If this is not possible you must mail your check within 2 weeks of the meeting. Your check must be made out to the charity that was selected and must be mailed to Power of 100 Eagan Women, per the instructions in the follow-up email to the member.

Members have two weeks to submit their donations. As outlined in the membership agreement, nonpayment within that time is treated as choosing to opt out of membership. We appreciate understanding and a commitment to accountability as we continue our work of collective giving.

Any nonprofit meeting our criteria is welcome and encouraged to apply for consideration, a member nomination is not required. A group of member volunteers independently examine each charity's application. Applications are scored using a points-based rubric. Scores are tabulated and the top three charities are invited to present at the next meeting. Recipients of Impact Awards must wait three years to reapply. Presenting charities must wait another year before applying.

Yes. After confirming that the charity meets the requirements, contact the charity and ask them to apply using our charity application fou. If you are unable to make contact with the charity you recommend, contact Power of 100 Eagan Women leadership for assistance.

You are welcome to donate to either of the other presenting charities directly at the meeting in addition to the $100 gift to the selected charity.

Yes. You’ll just need to forward the grant confirmation (probably an email) from your DAF to powerof100eagan@gmail.com so that your donation can be recorded.
