Frequently Asked Questions

Power of 100 Eagan Women is a giving circle made up of women who come together twice a year to support local charities through collective giving. Each member donates $100 at each meeting, allowing us to make a significant impact together.

At each meeting:

  • Three local charities present their missions and needs
  • Members vote to select one charity
  • Each member donates $100 directly to the selected charity

With 100 members, that means a $10,000 impact in just one evening.

Simply complete the membership application. You will be invited to join other generous members at two energizing meetings and vote for the presenting charity you think should receive the Power of 100 Award. Members will collectively support the selected charity with each of their $100 contributions.

Very little! We meet just twice a year, and each event lasts about two and a half hours, including an hour and a half optional social time preceding each meeting. Members are welcome to volunteer or help spread the word, but there is no volunteer requirement.

No! Any woman who wants to support charity groups who help others in our local communities is welcome to join. Many cities in Dakota County do not have their own Power of 100 group or giving circles. Quite frequently our charity finalists serve all of Dakota County. We have members from all over the south metro and welcome many more.

Our mission includes connecting women through collective giving and community involvement. For that reason, membership and voting are limited to women. However, everyone is welcome to support our mission by attending public events, sponsoring a meeting, representing a charity, or contributing in other ways.

You are still welcome to join. Each Power of 100 giving circle operates independently and supports its own community. We encourage women to participate in as many giving circles as they wish.

No. Each membership belongs to one individual and includes one vote. Each member commits to donating $100 to the charity selected at each meeting.

We hold two meetings each year—one in the spring and one in the fall. The official meeting lasts one hour, with optional social time beforehand. Members and guests are encouraged to arrive early to connect, enjoy refreshments and build relationships with one another.

Absolutely! Guests are welcome to attend and learn more about Power of 100 Eagan Women. Only members may vote, and only members are committed to making the $100 donation to the selected charity.

No. Although the meetings are the best part of membership, attendance is optional. You will remain in good standing as long as you donate to the charity selected at each meeting. If you cannot attend, donation instructions will be sent shortly afterward.

Members have 30 days after each meeting to submit their donation. As stated in the membership agreement, voting privileges are suspended if the donation is not received within that time. Voting privileges will be restored after the member contributes to a charity selected at a future Power of 100 Eagan Women meeting.

Yes. After confirming that the charity meets our eligibility requirements,  encourage its leaders to submit our charity application. If you need help connecting the charity, please let us know. (Note, there are no priorities given to charities nominated by members.)

Eligible charities are invited to apply, whether or not they were nominated by a member. Member volunteers independently review and score the applications using a points-based rubric. Three charities are then selected to present at the meeting.

A Power of 100 Award recipient must sit out the next two selection cycles before applying again. Other presenting charities may apply during any future cycle

You are welcome to donate to either of the other presenting charities directly at the meeting in addition to the $100 gift to the selected charity. We will also follow-up each meeting with an email telling you how you can donate to the non-award recipients as well as the required charity if a member was not able to do so at the meeting.

Yes. Members make their $100 donation directly to the charity selected at the meeting, and that charity will provide a receipt. if you pay with a check at the meeting, you will get a paper receipt there. If you pay electronically, your receipt will be sent directly from the charity over email or text.

Yes. See you DAF instructions on how to do this. We will provide the charities' EINs

No. Although many Power of 100 and Women Who Care giving circles exist, Power of 100 Eagan Women operates independently. We are grateful for the guidance shared by Power of 100 Hastings Women, Power of 100 Rosemount Women, Power of 100 Women Greater Stillwater, and Power of 100 Twin Cities Women Who Care.

No. Power of 100 Eagan Women is not a 501(c)(3) organization. The money our members donate go directly and fully to the charity.

Yes. Since operating expenses are not built-in our giving-circle model and we incur costs for meetings, the website, social media, and membership-management tools, we accept contributions toward these expenses. They may be tax-deductible when made through our fiscal sponsor, the Eagan Community Foundation (EIN: 41-1701309) by denoting the contribution for Power of 100 Eagan Women.
