If you cannot find an answer to your question, please submit it via our contact form.
Simply complete the membership application. You will be invited to join other generous members at two energizing meetings and vote for the presenting charity you think should receive the Power of 100 Award. Members will collectively support the selected charity with each of their $100 contributions.
Very little! Power of 100 Eagan Women meets just twice a year, and each meeting lasts about two hours.
Members are welcome to volunteer or help spread the word, but there is no volunteer requirement—simply attending the meetings and participating in the vote makes you an active member.
No! Any woman who wants to support nonprofit groups who help others in our community is welcome to join.
Our mission is to empower and connect women through collective giving. We’re a private, membership-based giving circle that focuses on women’s community involvement. Because of this mission, and since we don’t receive any public funding, membership is limited to women.
That said, everyone is welcome to attend our public events, sponsor meetings, represent charities or support our mission in other ways. We value community partnerships and welcome everyone who believes in the power of giving back.
We make every effort to incur no costs for our members beyond the donations made to local charities, however we anticipate there may be some costs related to meeting venues that would need to be covered either by members or sponsors. An organization wishing to sponsor a meeting would directly pay the venue for a rental fee or banquet services. In exchange our sponsor receives, they can have an informational table with handouts for interested members at the meeting. An informational page or brochure can be put on each table. They will receive a couple of minutes to present their organization during the sponsored meeting. They will be listed on our website as a sponsor and listed in every notice about the event including website information on past meetings after the sponsored meeting. Please contact us if you have an interest in sponsoring a meeting. We love our sponsors!
We welcome you to join our group, as each Power of 100 group serves its community in unique ways. To support members who participate in more than one area Power of 100 giving circles, we strive to schedule our meetings on different days and usually different weeks than other groups.
Power of 100 is a wonderful avenue for philanthropy and we encourage you to join as many giving circles as you wish—each one amplifies the collective impact we can make together.
We plan to have two meetings a year, one in the spring and one in the fall.
The official meeting is just 1 hour. There will be an option to socialize for one hour prior to the meetings. We encourage all members to come early to meet and socialize with each other.
Absolutely! Only members are allowed to vote and are required to make a donation to the chosen charity. Our hope is that visitors might be inspired to become a member of our group or one of our "sister" Power of 100 giving circles.
We know that you are busy and often unplanned things come up. If you cannot attend, you can either send a proxy with your donation or send your donation directly to the charity per the instructions in the follow-up email to the member.
Members have two weeks to submit their donations. As outlined in the membership agreement, nonpayment within that time will suspend your member voting privileges, which will be restored after you again contribute to a charity selected by member vote at a Power of 100 Eagan Women meeting. We appreciate understanding and a commitment to accountability as we continue our work of collective giving.
Any nonprofit meeting our criteria is welcome and encouraged to apply for consideration. While member nomination of local nonprofits is encouraged, it is not required for a charity to apply for consideration. A group of member volunteers independently examine each charity’s application. Applications are scored using a points-based rubric. Recipients of the Power of 100 Award may not apply again until two more cycles have been completed. In other words, a Spring recipient may not apply again until the Fall cycle a year later. All other charities may apply again in any upcoming cycle.
Yes. After confirming that the charity meets the requirements, contact the charity and ask them to apply using the charity application form. If you are unable to make contact with the charity you recommend, contact Power of 100 Eagan Women leadership for assistance.
You are welcome to donate to either of the other presenting charities directly at the meeting in addition to the $100 gift to the selected charity.
Yes. Members make their $100 donation directly to the charity selected at the meeting, and that nonprofit organization will provide a receipt for tax purposes.
Yes. You’ll just need to forward the grant confirmation (probably an email) from your DAF to powerof100eagan@gmail.com so that your donation can be recorded.
Power of 100 Eagan Women is an independent giving circle and not a 501(c)(3). For situations that require nonprofit status, such as certain sponsorships or grants, we work with a fiscal sponsor that provides 501(c)(3) designation.
No. Although there are many "Power of 100" and "Women Who Care" groups, the Power of 100 Eagan Women operates completely independently. We have gratefully received input and knowledge sharing from several other Power of 100 giving circles in setting up our group, including Power of 100 Hastings Women, Power of 100 Rosemount Women, and Power of 100 Women Greater Stillwater.
